Candidates with higher secondary education with physics and maths and, mathematics related graduates can apply for SCRA. Candidates with master degree in geological science or any related disciple can apply for GE.

Age Limitation

Any candidate between the age of 21 to 30 years as on the first of August of year of examination can apply for civil services examination. OBC candidates have a relaxation of three years in the upper limit and five years relaxation for SC and ST candidates. The UPSC eligibility criteria 2015 for age limits for various castes are the same for engineering service examination. For military academy, the age limit is between 19 and 24 years (as of June of the year of the examination). It is 19 to 23 for air force and 19 to 25 for officers. For defence academy examination, the candidates should be between 16 ½ to 19. It is 17 to 21 for SCRA. For GE category I, the age should be between 21 and 32. For category II, the limit is between 21 and 35.

Nationality

Any candidate who is not an Indian by nationality cannot apply for the UPSC examination.

Gender Criteria

Both males and females can apply for all UPSC examinations other than UPSC National Defence Academy. Girls are not eligible to apply for NDA examinations.
