Are you feeling lazy, lethargic and in general, a bit low? This could have a lot to do with your lifestyle. It’s all too easy to fall into unhealthy patterns, winding up in a tight, not-so-cozy rut.
Follow these simple steps and start living again!
1. Are You Getting Enough Sleep?
Life is busy, yes. You may even be burning the candle at both ends without knowing it. If you’re tired every day and functioning to a substandard level, both physically and mentally, ask yourself if you’re getting enough sleep.
From what the experts say, somewhere between seven and nine hours sleep is recommended per night for adults. If you’re not allowing yourself to rest sufficiently, this not only makes you drowsy on your feet but can lower concentration, increase stress levels and contribute to long term health issues.
2. Enough with the Junk Food
“You are what you eat”. We’ve all heard that term thrown around, and with all the nutritional information available these days, it’s hard to argue. If you eat too much junk, you will feel like junk, it’s really that straightforward.
Steer clear of processed food and drinks and fill your belly with natural goodness. Remember, fresh is best!
3. Happy Hydration
If you’re not drinking enough fluid throughout the day you can become sluggish, cranky, and find it difficult to function mentally.
It is not uncommon to think you’re hungry when, in fact, you are thirsty. Next time you get the urge to snack, drink a tall glass of water and wait 15 minutes, then see how you feel. If you’re satisfied, then you weren’t hungry after all.
You don’t have to wait until you feel thirsty to drink water, you know? Actually, if thirst kicks in, you’ve already started to dehydrate. Having a bottle of water on hand is the best thing you can do to keep your body happy.
4. Be Positive
Are you a negative Nancy? This absolutely needs to change if you want a healthier life. Not only does a positive mind welcome happiness, it is bound to rub off on people around you; and what better way to change the world than being what you want to see more of.
- Appreciate what you already have instead of focusing on what you don’t have.
- If you’re unhappy with something – change it!
- Take control of your own life and stop blaming others for your unhappiness.
- Always strive to be a better person.
- Love yourself.
Embrace your beauty and uniqueness, and don’t compare yourself to others; they’ll never be a better you, than you!
5. Grooming gets the job done.
(There’s a few handy links in this section.)
Taking pride in your appearance doesn’t mean you have to spend three hours in front of the mirror making yourself look perfect; but a spot of effort goes a long way, because when you look good – you feel good! Of course, we’re not all models, many people lose confidence with thinning hair but there are so many quick fixes for thin hair these days. Products that can treat thin hair in about 60 seconds actually exist!
Sometimes it’s not as simple as dolling yourself up; if you have bad acne scaring or pigmentation issues, this can really hinder your confidence. However, it doesn’t have to stay that way. There are laser skin professionals who can help you with treatments to improve your skin’s appearance.
6. Be More Active
It’s a fact; physical activity is good for you. While it helps you become fit, it can also be fun, social, and great for your mood and mental health. Aside from typical exercise such as going for a run or taking a class at the gym, you’ll find even the small stuff helps. Park further away from shops, take the stairs, walk the dog and play with kids.
At the moment it might be a catch 22 if you’re too tired to get active, but once you take those first steps, you will feel a whole lot better within yourself and become motivated to keep it up.
So there you have it… a few steps to help you on your way to a healthier, happier you. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and grab life with both hands!
