What Is There To Do In Ohio?

Ohio may be in the middle of the country, but it is not a flyover state. In fact, there are so many things to do throughout the state, you may want to schedule some extra time to enjoy them all.

Ohio has a rich history that mixes the Amish and Mennonite countryside culture of southern Ohio with the hustle and bustle of thriving Cleveland. You stay can be as slow or fast-paced as you like while you enjoy a variety of festivals, restaurants and concerts that take place throughout the year.

Cincinnati

Cincinnati, the first Ohio city you find once you cross the Kentucky state line, consists of fantastic views, both indoor and outdoor fun and a wealth of culture. The tourist jewel of the city include the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The zoo, originally opening in 1875, is the United States’ second oldest zoo. Its 74 acres includes the Reptile House, which is the oldest zoo building in the country. There is also the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal where kids can burn off energy while they learn playing with interactive exhibits.

For those seeking some outdoor adventure, look no further than the Ohio River for boating, rafting and fishing. There are also riverboat cruises for those looking for a more relaxing time on the water.

Cleveland

Cleveland is the heart of rock and roll with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame attracting thousands of music lovers every day. Located along the shores of Lake Erie, this museum has a number of interesting artifacts, memorabilia and instruments from both from the early days of rock through modern days.

There is also the Cleveland Museum of Art, located in the city’s east side. The facility ranks as a top art museum in the country. It includes a comprehensive collection of art from Southeast Asia, Japan, China and Korea as well as a new ArtLens Gallery that provides interactive participation.

One surprising tourist attraction is the house from the movie “A Christmas Story.” It has regular tours and even sells the leg lamp in both the small and large versions. After all, it’s a major award.

Outside the Major Cities

There are several things to do in some of the smaller cities. That would include spending time at Cedar Point Amusement Park. Cedar Point in Sandusky has consistently been ranked as the nation’s number one amusement park. That is, in part, because of its constant improvement. It added the walk-through exhibit Dinosaurs Alive in 2012, which features 50 life-size dinosaurs that are animatronic.

Those who want the luck of the Irish can visit Dublin. The city lives Irish culture all year, but has a major festival celebration all things Irish in August. Those who want to stay for all of these activities have a choice of some amazing Dublin Ohio hotels for their visit.

Whether you stay in a city or in a smaller town, Ohio has a lot to offer those who long for an affordable trip for themselves or their family. It is worth the time spent driving around the state.
